Totally agree. Almost every MS product, website, add-on, will do stuff like this. I'm always looking for this type of stuff when I install something as it's sometimes hidden. Drives me nuts when my nice blank page turns into some fetch from the internet that I didn't ask for. Sheesh.

It is akin to adjusting the steering wheel and seat position in your car - to their preference! I just use Firefox though, and start browsing from "about:blank".
