Unnatural acts on source code

Animated GIFs are still evil

I just put this image on my adblock settings: http://testdriven.com/programs/imtd4.gif It is the Red->Green->Refactor image, which I have no issue with, except that it is animated. I was trying to read a blog post and my eye kept moving to the image.

If you want to show you are TDDist, please use a static version. Animated ones are just wrong, especially when located near readable text.

While I do agree that they're evil, if someone happens to put one on their page just hit the ESC key to stop the animation.

In firefox, browse to about:config and find or add a string image.animationmode = once. That plus flash-block keeps me sane.

There's an even more extreme option. Nuke Anything is a Firefox extension that allows you to remove anything from any page. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/951
