Help us select the new RavenDB logo previous: Concurrent Max next: The evil tricks of “It Works On My Machine”, in reverse We are running a contest for the new RavenDB logo, we would really like to hear what you think: http://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/create-next-logo-ravendb-80950 Comments 06/13/2011 10:45 AM by James Morcom #31 06/13/2011 11:04 AM by Richard Dingwall 31 06/13/2011 11:06 AM by Khalid Abuhakmeh So far I like #28 the best, but you should try to get them to use the original blue colors (or something close to it). I still don't really love any of them, they are just good. 06/13/2011 11:07 AM by Samuel Jack 31 is definitely my favourite 06/13/2011 11:35 AM by Zach Burlingame I like several of them, but #29 is definitely my favorite. However, it's color scheme is quite a departure from both the Hibernating Rhinos line and the current RavenDB color scheme. 06/13/2011 11:37 AM by Juan Perez Which is the price? 06/13/2011 11:46 AM by Rippo To be honest none of them looks like a raven, 31 looks like a angels wing! 06/13/2011 11:55 AM by shawn I'm a fan of #29 myself. 06/13/2011 12:20 PM by NC I don't like any of them. They all look like fonts to me... There isn't any creativity or anything, just... so... generic... I think you should try the gold package so theres more incentive for good designers to come up with concepts. If i HAD to pick from any of the available ones... I would say 28... 06/13/2011 12:46 PM by njy amount of money aside, if you want a good logo don't give people 24 hours to create one. 06/13/2011 12:52 PM by AW 34 - I love the flying Raven incorporated in to the logo, and among all those that do that this is the best one. #31 is also nice because it's very clean and simple. 06/13/2011 01:53 PM by Josh What is wrong with the current logo? I like it better than any of these other ones. 06/13/2011 02:11 PM by Paul 28 06/13/2011 02:40 PM by Nikos Baxevanis 26 06/13/2011 08:02 PM by Rafal They look basically the same to me, too 'american' - unsophisticated, obvious and self-centered (sorry to all americans who don't fit this stereotype). And deadly serious. 06/13/2011 08:14 PM by Rafal PS I'd suggest a more artistic and less direct design. Something that has a mood, a feeling to it (sorry, english is not my native language) - raven is a dark, mysterious bird some examples of what I'm talking about http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs5/i/2006/349/0/0/TribalRavenbyDrewTheWolf.png http://www.layoutsparks.com/1/41930/raven-loop-hanging-crow.html http://www.wildravens.net/RGmeaning.cfm?22 http://www.clipartpal.com/thumbs/pd/holiday/halloween/ravenin_moonlight.png 06/13/2011 09:09 PM by Barry 42 for me, well for you. 06/13/2011 11:48 PM by Eddie 42 06/14/2011 02:09 AM by ricky 41 06/14/2011 04:52 AM by Diego I actually like #40 & #39. They do not seem to be getting too much love. 06/14/2011 06:15 AM by zit 29 my fav 06/14/2011 08:20 AM by Reggie 60 06/14/2011 09:07 AM by Duckie I cannot choose for you, but some proposals for chosing which to eliminate Do not choose a logo with gloss or gradients - it gets old really fast (such as 53) - i would say a subtle gradient is ok, but the logo should look nice without it. In my opinion, the best logos are simple, and straightforward (61: too much noice, are those things wings? 55: too many gradients, the the drawn bird is too detailed, same with 53). 51 is too heavy. Also important, some of the artists do not know what a raven actually looks like! http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/willow/raven-info0.gif, #60 looks like a eagle?? 06/14/2011 10:21 AM by Youpi 58 or #60. Simple and modern. 06/14/2011 01:37 PM by Simon Bartlett Duckie is definitely on to something! ;) 06/14/2011 07:31 PM by Matt 58 06/14/2011 10:23 PM by Adrian Lanning #40 by rickshow Really captures the essence for me. Strongly dislike #29. 06/15/2011 08:23 PM by Mike Brown I like #26. I think the feather represents the lightweight nature of RavenDB while also being evocative of the Raven. It's clean, it's simple, it doesn't have excess ornamentation. Again just like RavenDB. Comments have been closed on this topic.
